Not All the Blood of Beasts
Organ, every verse, the words light up as you sing. Tune: Boylston.
Not all the blood of beastsOn Jewish altars slain,Could give the guilty conscience peaceOr wash away the stain.
But Christ, the heavenly Lamb,Takes all our sins away;A sacrifice of nobler nameAnd richer blood than they.
My faith would lay her handOn that dear head of Thine,While like a penitent I standAnd there confess my sin.
My soul looks back to seeThe burdens Thou didst bearWhen hanging on the cursed tree,And knows her guilt was there.
Believing, we rejoiceTo see the curse remove; We bless the Lamb with cheerful voiceAnd sing His bleeding love.
