Morning prayer · 30 April

Things that last

A sandcastle on the shore is being gently washed away by the tide while a single small stone further up the beach, out of reach of the water, stands untouched and solid.

God, you protect everyone who trusts you. Without you nothing is strong and nothing is holy. Pour out more and more of your mercy on us, so that with you leading and guiding us, we pass through the things that don’t last in such a way that, in the end, we don’t lose the things that last forever. Please do this, Father in heaven, for the sake of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (BSB)
