Morning prayer · 11 December

Take your word inside

A small jar on a windowsill with scripture pages rolled up inside it like scrolls, steeping like tea leaves, the light inside the jar warmer than the light outside.

Blessed Lord, you had all the holy Scriptures written to teach us. Help us to hear them, read them, notice what they say, learn them and take them deep inside us. Then, through the patience and comfort your holy word gives, may we welcome and always hold on to the blessed hope of life that never ends, which you’ve given us in Jesus Christ. Amen.

For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
