Morning prayer · 10 July
A little nearer each day

My God, I’m all weakness, but you are my strength. Every new trouble bends me low again, but you can lift me up, and you want to. Don’t let me fail, God my strength. Don’t let me lose heart, God my hope. Draw me a little nearer to you each day, even if it’s only a little. Make me a little more like you each day. Each day, let me do or bear something for love of you, to make me more ready for you. Don’t let a day go by without my doing something that pleases you. That’s the only way I want to live, more and more for you. And that’s how I want to die, longing to love you more. Amen.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
