Morning prayer · 20 July

Lift me up

A spilled teacup on a table, its liquid caught mid-pour by a hand reaching from off-page to steady it before it tips further.

Be with me today, Lord. You know what I mean: Lord, make me pay attention to you. I’m getting ahead of my own forgetfulness now, before I bend down to gather the grain of this earth, which your own hand drops for me. In that moment, be on my side against myself. Oh, lean over me when I tip my cup over and spill it. Take hold of me, even by the hair, and lift me up. Amen.

Be careful not to forget the LORD your God by failing to keep His commandments and ordinances and statutes, which I am giving you this day.

Deuteronomy 8:11 (BSB)
