Morning prayer · 15 May

Search our hearts

A dusty old mirror being wiped clean with a single cloth, the reflection growing clear and bright where the dust is swept away.

God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, your goodness never runs out. Lord, make our souls, bodies and spirits holy. Touch our minds and search our consciences. Throw out of us every evil thought, every low desire, all envy, pride and pretending, all lies and deceit, all worldly worry, greed, showing off and laziness, all spite, rage and anger, every grudge we hold, every word against you, and everything in us that goes against your holy will. And Lord, you love people. Let us call on you boldly and freely, without condemnation, with a pure heart and a humble, sorry soul, without shame, and with lips made holy: our holy God and Father in heaven. Amen.

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
