Laughter and kind faces

A teapot pouring not tea but a string of small sunny daisies into a row of plain waiting cups, turning the same old morning chore bright, with the words “laughter and kind faces” lettered by hand.

Lord, the day comes back and brings us the same little round of irritating worries and jobs. Help us face them bravely, and do them with laughter and kind faces. Let cheerfulness go along with hard work. Help us go about our business lightheartedly all day. Bring us to our beds tired and content, with nothing to be ashamed of, and in the end give us the gift of sleep. Amen.

This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
