Be still and know

A pond's surface finally going glassy-still after ripples fade, one leaf resting motionless on top, with the words “be still and know” lettered by hand.

God of peace, you’ve taught us that in coming back to you and resting we’ll be saved, and that quietness and trust will be our strength. By the power of your Spirit, lift us, we pray, into your presence, where we can be still and know that you are God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By repentance and rest you would be saved; your strength would lie in quiet confidence—but you were not willing.”
