Morning prayer · 13 April

Open our eyes

A pair of eyes drawn as two plain windows with their shutters swinging open to let bright morning light pour in across a small room, with the words “open our eyes” lettered by hand.

Almighty God, every day we see so much evidence of your glory, yet we’re so blind that we shut out the light by being ungrateful. Please help us at last to open our eyes; open them yourself, by your Spirit. Help us notice how many and how great your gifts are. As you keep showing us that you are God forever, help us grow in this school of loving you. Teach us to give you the credit for everything good, until all that’s left is to praise you alone. The more generous you are to us, the more let us long to worship you. May we give ourselves to you, keeping none of the praise for ourselves, caring only that your glory shines through all the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
