Morning prayer · 23 April

Guard my going out

A doorway at dawn with a cat pausing on the threshold, one paw out and one paw in, watching the road ahead before stepping fully out.

Lord, God of truth, into your hands I place my spirit, soul and body. You made them and you rescued them. And with me I place everyone and everything that’s mine. You gave them to me, Lord, because you’re good. Guard us from all evil. Guard our souls, Lord, please. Keep us from falling. Guard my going out and my coming in, now and forever. Please help me do well today, and let the people I meet be kind to me. Amen.

Into Your hands I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD, God of truth.
