Morning prayer · 7 April

Little daily duties

A small wooden spoon stirring an ordinary pot, steady and plain, with one drop of steam curling upward like quiet devotion to a small task.

Lord, you’re our guide all the way, even to death. Please help us follow you wherever you go. In the small everyday things you call us to, bend our wills to simple obedience: patience when we’re in pain or provoked, honesty in what we say and how we act, humility, and kindness. And in great acts of duty, if you ever call us to them, lift us up to give ourselves, to brave courage, even to laying down our lives for your truth or for someone else. Amen.

For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even till death.
