Morning prayer · 3 December

Arrange this day for me

A small empty basket sits on a doorstep at dawn, open-mouthed and ready, waiting for an unseen hand to fill it one day's portion at a time.

Lord, in endless wisdom and love you arrange everything for your children. Arrange everything for me today in your tender pity. You made me, so you know my weakness. You know how my soul shrinks from every kind of inner pain. Lord, I know you won’t put a heavier load on me than you can help me carry. Teach me to receive everything today from you. Help me to trust myself to you in everything, to please you in everything, and to come nearer to you through everything. Bring me nearer to you day by day, to life that never ends. Amen.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God of our salvation. Selah
