Morning prayer · 10 February

One master, one reward

A single worn work-glove resting on a table beside a small stack of coins, suggesting labour done gladly for a reward yet to come.

Lord, our Father in heaven, in your care you give people all kinds of different work. Give all of us a spirit that works hard and gladly at whatever our own work is, as people serving one Master and looking forward to one reward. Teach us to make good use of whatever gifts you’ve lent us, and help us make the most of our time with patience and energy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men,
