A clean heart

Lord our God, you forgive people when they turn back to you. You gave us David’s sorrow over his sin as an example of owning up and confessing, the kind that leads to forgiveness. Lord, have mercy on us too, by your great mercy, even though we’ve done so much wrong. In your great kindness, wipe out our wrongs. We’ve sinned against you, Lord. You know the secret, hidden things of the human heart, and only you have power to forgive sins. You’ve made a clean heart in us, steadied us with your guiding Spirit and shown us the joy of being saved. Don’t send us away from your presence. Amen.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
