Let there be light

A small unlit matchstick standing upright on a plain table, with one single struck flame drawn just beginning to catch at its tip, the only bright mark on the page, with the words “let there be light” lettered by hand.

Lord, you are the light, the way, the truth and the life. In you there’s no darkness, no wrong turn, nothing empty and no death. You’re the light, and without you there’s darkness. You’re the way, and without you we wander. You’re the truth, and without you we get it wrong. You’re the life, and without you there’s death. Say, Lord, “Let there be light,” and I’ll see light and leave the darkness. I’ll see the way and stop wandering. I’ll see the truth and turn from what’s false. I’ll see life and escape death. Light up my blind soul, which sits in darkness and the shadow of death, and guide my feet onto the path of peace. Amen.

to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Luke 1:79 (BSB)
