Morning prayer · 4 January
Fit for your eyes

Almighty God, we praise you that we’ve woken to the light of another day. Our days are yours; let them be spent for you. Our days are few; let them be spent with care. Forgive the wrong in the dark days behind us, and make us strong for any dark days ahead. Shine on this day, the one we can call our own. Lord, as we go to our daily work, help us enjoy it. Show us what we should do, and help us do it faithfully. Let everything we do be done well, fit for your eyes to see. Give us strength to do, patience to bear, and courage that never fails. When we can’t love our work, help us see it as your task, and make unlovely things shine in the light of your great love. Amen.
So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.
