Look through the cloud

A small figure stands in thick fog looking up at one thin break in the clouds where a bit of sun shows through, patient rather than straining.

Almighty God, Father and Lord of everything you’ve made, you bring good out of evil in hidden ways. Teach me to trust your care and your plans in all things. Help me be content through every change in people and in my circumstances. When things go well, keep me self-controlled, and help me read my duty in the lines of your mercy. When things go badly, help me be gentle, patient and trusting. And help me look through the cloud, so I can wait for the comfort you bring. Amen.

O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
