Morning prayer · 3 June

Friend and enemy

One hand feeds a bird at a feeder while an identical hand feeds a second bird that keeps pecking at the first bird's seed too, showing love poured out equally to friend and rival alike.

Lord, pour your love into my heart, so that I love you, love my friends in you, and love my enemies for your sake. You give grace to humble people; give me the grace to be humble. You never let down those who stand in awe of you. You’re the one I fear and the one I hope in. Let me be afraid of only one thing: fearing anything more than you. Help me treat others as I want them to treat me. Don’t let me think too highly of myself, but help me think with a clear, sober mind. Amen.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.
