Morning prayer · 17 March

You open your hand

An open hand held palm-up beneath a tree, catching seeds falling from its branches, showing provision given simply because it is asked for.

Lord, everything waits on you. You open your hand, and all of it is filled with good things. Hear us, Lord God, and be merciful to us, because of who you are. You know what we need; teach us to feel it. You know how little we understand; teach us how to pray. You know how weak we are; teach us to look to you for strength. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.

All creatures look to You to give them their food in due season. When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
