Great companion

Great Companion of our souls, go with us today. When we feel alone in our faith, comfort us with the sense that you’re near. Keep our eyes fixed on doing what’s right. Guide us by the voice inside. Help us listen to what people think and patiently gather whatever truth it holds, but teach us to test it all by the words and the spirit of Jesus, who alone is our Master. Don’t let us fit in so completely with the way things are that the world fully approves of us. Let us speak the higher truth and live the purer goodness you’ve shown us. If people praise us, don’t let us get proud. If they look down on us, don’t let us lose heart. Amen.
Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
