Like lost sheep

One small sheep standing alone outside an open gate, looking back over its shoulder toward a distant flock, a single path of footprints leading back home.

Almighty and most merciful Father, we’ve wandered and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We’ve followed too much the plans and desires of our own hearts. We’ve broken your holy laws. We’ve left undone the things we should have done, and we’ve done the things we shouldn’t have done, and there’s no health in us. But you, Lord, have mercy on us, poor wrongdoers. Spare those who admit their faults. Restore those who are sorry, as you’ve promised everyone in Christ Jesus our Lord. And most merciful Father, for his sake, help us from now on to live a good, right and self-controlled life, for the glory of your holy name. Amen.

We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.
