Morning prayer · 5 March

Nearer by evening

A small compass resting in an open palm, its needle quietly settling toward true north, suggesting a heart asking moment by moment to be pointed the right way.

Father, teach me how to ask you quietly for help, moment by moment. If I fail, teach me to ask you straight away to forgive me. If I’m anxious, help me turn to you quickly. Let nothing come between you and me today. My loving, tender Father, let me want and do and say just what you want me to. Work your holy will in me and through me today. Protect me, guide me and bless me, inside and out, so I can do something today out of love for you, something that pleases you. And by this evening, let me be nearer to you, even if I can’t see it or know it. Lord, lead me straight to you, and keep me in your grace to the end. Amen.

The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call out to Him in truth.
