Morning prayer · 19 May
Rest above everything

Lord, above everything and in everything, let my soul always rest in you, because you are the everlasting rest of all your people. Sweet and loving Jesus, help me rest in you above everything you’ve made: above all health and beauty, all glory and respect, all power and status, all knowledge and skill, all wealth and talent, all joy and delight, all fame and praise, all sweetness and comfort, all hope and promise, all achievement and desire, above all the gifts and rewards you can give, and all the joy the mind can take in. In a word, help me rest in you above the angels and all the armies of heaven, above everything seen and unseen, and above everything that isn’t you, my God. Amen.
Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.
