Morning prayer · 4 November
Deepen that rest

Lord, bless your people who are at rest, and make that rest deeper. May the rest you give grow even richer as they take your yoke on them and learn from you. May your word be very sweet to them. May a deep calm come over our spirits, as when Christ hushed the wind and the waves. May we not only accept your will, but delight in it, pleased with all you provide. May we rest in you, our God, and be truly happy knowing you will remember our sins no more. You’ve bound yourself to us by a promise that can never fail. So, like David, we can say this morning: you’ve made an everlasting promise with me, arranged in every detail and sure. Amen.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
