Morning prayer · 7 November

Scatter my sins

A hand gently shaking out a folded morning blanket of mist off a windowsill, the wisps dissolving into sunlight as they fall away, with the words “scatter my sins like mist” lettered by hand.

Glory to you, Lord God Almighty. Glory to you for making your mercies new to me every morning. Glory to you for refreshing me with sleep last night, and keeping me safe from the dangers of the dark. As you’ve taken away the night, take away my wrongs; scatter my sins like the morning mist. Lord, forgive whatever you saw wrong in me in the night. Father of mercies, wash me completely clean of my wrongdoing and my sin. And let your Holy Spirit go before me, walk with me and follow me today, so that I trust you, love you, keep your commands, and stay in awe of you all day long. Amen.

I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
