Morning prayer · 17 October

Fenced by your care

A small garden plot enclosed by a simple wooden picket fence, one bird perched calmly on a post, dawn light suggested by a soft flat wash.

Lord God Almighty, Christ, King of glory, you are our true peace and our everlasting love. Light up our souls with the brightness of your peace. Make our consciences clean with the sweetness of your love, so that we can wait with peaceful hearts for you, the maker of peace. In the troubles of this world, always be our guard and protector. And with your care all around us like a fence, may we give ourselves with all our hearts to loving your peace. Amen.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.

John 14:27 (BSB)
