Morning prayer · 18 October

Each day what we need

A simple wooden bowl filled with just enough bread for the day, steam curling up in the morning light.

God, you’ve given us life and every good thing we have on earth. Please give us each day what we need. Give all of us strength to do our work faithfully, and bless the work of our hands and our minds. Help us to serve you always, when we’re sick and when we’re well, when we’re in need and when we have plenty. Make our joys and our trials holy. Give us grace to seek your kingdom and what is right first, sure and certain that everything else will be given to us as well. Amen.

May the bolts of your gate be iron and bronze, and may your strength match your days.”
