Morning prayer · 21 September

Bending my knee

A small figure kneels in a quiet garden at first light, three soft beams of morning sun crossing gently onto them from three different points in the sky, like three sources of one warmth.

I am bending my knee in the eye of the Father who made me, in the eye of the Son who bought me back, in the eye of the Spirit who washed me clean, in friendship and love. Through your own Chosen One, God, give us fullness in our need: love toward God, God’s affection, God’s smile, God’s wisdom, God’s grace, a holy awe of God, and God’s will, to do on earth as angels and saints do in heaven. In every shade and light, every day and night, every moment, in your kindness, give us your Spirit. Amen.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
