Overcome evil with good

Two porcupines sit close together on a log, their quills gently flattened down instead of raised, nuzzling without being pricked, showing patience that bears with another's sharp edges in love.

Almighty God, help us put away all bitterness, anger, harsh words and spite. However we’re tempted or provoked, let us stay patient, not beaten by evil, but beating evil with good. God of patience, help us carry one another’s burdens and put up with one another in love. Teach us all, and help us, to live in peace and love truly, seeking peace with everyone and walking in love, as Christ loved us. Let us learn from him such gentleness and humility of heart that in him we find rest for our souls. Amen.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
