Waters of comfort

A single still pool of water beside a winding path, with a few smooth stepping stones leading toward the far shore where the path continues, with the words “waters of comfort” lettered by hand.

Lord, comfort and relieve everyone who is persecuted or suffering. Speak peace to troubled consciences. Strengthen the weak and steady the strong. Teach those who don’t know. Rescue the oppressed from those who rob them, and help people in need who have no one to help them. And bring us all, beside the waters of comfort and along the right paths, to your kingdom of rest and glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

For he will deliver the needy who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper.
