Tomorrow’s grace too

A small bird at a feeder eating only today's one scattered handful of seed, with tomorrow's handful not yet thrown, still safe in the sower's bag tucked under their arm.

God, I know your good plans for me are settled and made complete in your holy will. Your grace is there, and there I am, completely. But show me those plans in your own time, in your own measure, step by step, so I have not only the comfort of knowing you’re endlessly good, but also of finding you better and better to me every day. Keep me humble by teaching me this: whatever grace you give me today, I’d be lost tomorrow without tomorrow’s grace too. So I ask you for my daily bread. Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread.
