Morning prayer · 2 February

This broken dance

A small bird's nest tucked in a tree fork, one scuffed feather caught on the twigs beside it, quiet and held after a storm.

Father of my Lord, against my fears, my doubts and all I don’t know, I trust in you. The world was going round in this same broken dance when Jesus, worn out and mocked, still trusted you and adored you. I’ll trust too, and gather up my poor best to face what’s false but wears the face of truth. Then one day I’ll wake up safe in his nest, a little scarred and scratched. Amen.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

Psalm 56:3 (BSB)
