A calm and steady spirit

A spinning top stands perfectly upright and steady even as a child's hand nudges it off-balance, showing calm held through disturbance.

Lord, guide me through all the changes and ups and downs of this world. Whatever happens, give me a calm and steady spirit. Let my soul be completely given over to your will and to what pleases you. Let me never grumble when you gently correct me, as a loving father would. And let me never grow proud or arrogant, even when comforts and successes pour over me like a flood. Amen.

I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.
