The rest of my life

A blank ledger book lies open on a plain desk, its empty page catching a single beam of light while a pen rests nearby, ready to write a whole life over to someone else, with the words “the rest of my life” lettered by hand.

God, you’re worthy of all worship. I humbly ask you to accept what I want to give you: the rest of my life, to be used fully, with all the energy of my soul and body, in your service and your worship. Forgive all the wrongs of my past. Give me steady faith, burning love, humble and complete obedience, and a will that wants nothing except what it receives from your will, always ready and glad to follow it. All my thoughts and actions are always in front of you, so I humbly ask that they’ll never be unworthy of your presence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God.
