Content with my lot

A low garden stool sitting contentedly in the shade of a tall tree, instead of trying to grow as tall as the tree itself.

Almighty God, you’ve given each of us our place in life. Help us be content with what we’ve been given. When you humble us, help us willingly accept it and let you lead us, and not want to be raised up in ways that would lead us to ruin. Help us carry ourselves humbly in our different kinds of work, so that you always shine out in us. May we have no other aim than to help the people we’re connected to, as in your sight, and so bring glory to your name among everyone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain.
