Morning prayer · 2 March

Out of the gloom

A simple lamp on a windowsill with its light drawn as a sharp-edged wedge cutting through a darkened half of the room, showing day and night as one clean split.

God, you separate the day from the night. Separate what we do from the gloom of darkness, so that, always thinking about what is holy, we can live in your light all the time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
