Sadness turned to joy

An empty bird's nest on a bare winter branch is being gently filled with warm golden straw by a small hand reaching in from outside the frame, turning emptiness into shelter.

God, all-powerful and full of mercy, you heal the broken-hearted and turn sadness into joy. Let your fatherly goodness rest on everything you’ve made. Remember with pity those who have nothing, no home, or have been forgotten by others. Bless your poor. Lift up those who are low. Be a strong friend to those who suffer through no fault of their own, and make what they endure holy. Fill everyone who is discouraged and unhappy with hope. By your grace, keep from falling those whose poverty tempts them to do wrong. Though trouble is on every side, don’t let them be crushed. Though they don’t know what to do, save them from despair. For the love of your Son Jesus Christ, who became poor for our sake. Amen.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
