The light of another morning

A small wooden chair pushed back from a table at dawn, its owner already up and standing at an open door with sleeves rolled, offering the empty chair outward as if handing the whole day's rest back in service.

Lord, thank you for your kindness through the night. You kept us in peace and safety, and woke us up again to see the light of another morning. Help us try to give back the only thing we can for all your goodness: ourselves, in your service. May we cheerfully make the small sacrifices you ask of us, of what we’d like or what suits us. And when we think of all you’ve done for us, may we be ashamed to be unwilling. Amen.

How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me?

Psalm 116:12 (BSB)
