Morning prayer · 13 October

As Christ was

A plain work apron hangs on a hook, and where the morning light falls across it, the rough fabric turns smooth and glowing like woven silk, showing ordinary busyness transfigured into Christlike goodness.

Lord, may everything help us to be pure, because we long for it. We care about the things of your Spirit, and something in us groans to be completely set free from our selfish nature, so that in spirit, soul and body we can be a clean temple, a fit home for you, the Holy One. Lord, please help us in our daily life to be as Christ was. If we carry sorrow, may it shine as his did, with patience and quiet surrender to your will. If we’re busy, may our busyness be like his, because he “went about doing good.” May we look in every way for the good of the people around us and the glory of our God. Amen.

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.
