The YouVersion Bible App, made by Life.Church, is a Bible app first: thousands of versions in thousands of languages, reading plans, audio Bibles and friends to read with, all free with no ads. Mutter is a prayer app built around one habit: before the apps you choose open, it shows the verse or prayer you picked for today. Many people could happily use both.

Where YouVersion is better
- Every translation you could want. Over 3,500 Bible versions in over 2,300 languages, and an app in 60+ languages. Mutter has three English translations: the BSB, the WEB and the KJV.
- Reading plans. Thousands of plans on every topic, or the whole Bible in a year, and more than 630 million plan completions so far.
- Reading together. Add friends, do plans together, share notes and prayers, and comment on the Verse of the Day.
- Everywhere, and you don't need an account. Android, iPhone, iPad, the web and more, and you can start reading without signing up. Mutter needs an account and is iPhone only.
- Free, with no ads, for years. It's free with no ads or purchases, the same as Mutter, and it has served hundreds of millions of people.
Where Mutter is different
- A prayer before your apps. App Guard shows today's verse or prayer before the apps you choose. YouVersion has a Verse of the Day, but it doesn't step in when you open Instagram.
- Prayer at the centre. Mutter is built around praying a few words through the day: say Amen, or listen to it read.
- Drawings of your words. Each verse or prayer you save is drawn in paper and ink, and shows on your Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets.
- A library beyond the Bible. Spurgeon's Morning and Evening and Faith's Checkbook, articles from the great Christian books, hymns and historic prayers, plus Story, the Bible told as a timeline.

Who should pick which
Pick YouVersion if you want a full Bible app: many translations, plans, audio Bibles, friends to read with, or Android and the web. It's free and excellent at that.
Pick Mutter if you want help to pray when you reach for your phone, with words you chose, drawings, and devotionals and hymns to read. (Once it's on the App Store.) Plenty of people will want both.
