God came to me in a dream and informed me I was as good as dead, as the woman is married. I had not touched her. He told me she was his sister. She told me he was her brother. I have since put the question to Abraham: what did I ever do to you?
And here we go again. In Gerar, Abraham says Sarah is his sister, and King Abimelech takes her.

Kings have dreams too.
King of Gerar, in the Philistine country of the south. Abraham told me Sarah was his sister, so I took her. Then God spoke to me in a dream. Later I made a peace treaty with Abraham at Beersheba. A king of Gerar called Abimelech also dealt with Isaac, who pulled exactly the same trick. It may be a title more than a name.

Happened to look out of my window and observed Isaac caressing Rebekah. She is quite obviously his wife. Why, then, describe her as his sister? One of my people could easily have slept with her.
Another famine, and Isaac moves the family to Gerar. When the men there ask about Rebekah, he tells them she’s his sister. He’s scared they’ll kill him for her. His father did exactly the same thing. Twice.
