We have been instructed to travel to the Euphrates and fetch Balaam son of Beor, fee in hand. The king’s position: whoever Balaam blesses is blessed, whoever he curses is cursed. He would like Israel cursed.

Princes of Moab, and elders of Moab and Midian, sent by King Balak to bring Balaam back with a curse. The first time he said no. So the king sent more of us, and more important ones.
