The Romans will come.
I sit on the Council in Jerusalem, the chief priests and Pharisees who run things under the Romans. After what happened at Bethany, we had to meet.

Paul said one line, that he’s a Pharisee and he’s on trial for hoping the dead will rise, and the council turned on itself. Pharisees on one side, Sadducees on the other. The Sadducees don’t believe in resurrection, angels or spirits. The Pharisees believe in all three.

Even on that point, their accounts do not agree. A great many people are lying tonight, and none of it matches.
First light. The full council has met again: chief priests, elders, teachers of the law. A decision has been reached. He has been tied up and is being taken to Pilate, the Roman governor.
Emergency session of the Council. Chief priests and Pharisees, all present. One item on the agenda: what do we do about him? He is performing sign after sign. If we let him carry on, everyone will believe in him. Then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.
Then Caiaphas spoke, the high priest this year. You know nothing at all, he told us. It’s better for you that one man dies for the people than that the whole nation is destroyed.
