King of Persia. When my governor asked whether Cyrus had really ordered the temple in Jerusalem rebuilt, I had the archives searched. He had. So I backed it, and paid for it.

To Tattenai and his officials: keep away from there. Leave the work on this house of God alone. And pay their costs in full out of your region's taxes, so the work isn't held up. Whatever the priests in Jerusalem need for the offerings, give it to them every day without fail. So they can pray for the king and his sons.
