We've mortgaged our fields, our vineyards and our homes to buy grain in this famine. Borrowed money to pay the king's tax. Now we're having to hand our sons and daughters over as slaves, and some of our daughters already are. We can't buy them back, because our fields belong to other people. And we're the same flesh and blood as them.

Same flesh and blood as them.
A farmer in Judah during the famine, while the wall was going up. We borrowed to eat and to pay the king's tax, and we lost our fields to our own people. Then our children.
