Who is Abimelech anyway?

I came to Shechem with my brothers, and the city’s leaders trusted me. I had a lot to say at the harvest festival.

Grapes are in, wine's flowing at the festival. Real talk: who even is Abimelech? Why should we serve him? Put this city under me and I'll get rid of him.
