Tell the man who sent you: the LORD will bring disaster on this place, everything that book says, because they’ve abandoned him for other gods. But tell the king of Judah: because your heart was soft, because you humbled yourself and tore your clothes and wept, I’ve heard you. You’ll go to your grave in peace. Your eyes won’t see it.

The king asked. I told him.
A prophet in Jerusalem, living in the Second District. My husband Shallum keeps the royal wardrobe. When the book was found, the king’s men came to me.

The king’s men came to me to ask the LORD about the book. I told them what the LORD says: disaster is coming on this place, everything written in that book, because they’ve left him for other gods. But the king took it to heart. He humbled himself, tore his clothes and wept when he heard it. So he’ll go to his grave in peace, and won’t see it.
