Some of us had to go and tell Ezra. The people, even priests and Levites, have married into the peoples round us, the ones whose ways God hates. And the leaders and officials were the first to do it.

One of the leaders of the returned exiles in Jerusalem. After Ezra arrived, a few of us went to him about the marriages. Our own leaders had been the first to do it.
