Second year back, and the foundation's down. The priests in their robes with trumpets, us with the cymbals, all in our places the way King David set it up. We sang it back and forth: he is good. His love for Israel lasts for ever. Then everyone shouted.

A Levite singer, from Asaph's family

Cymbals. Same song as always.
A Levite, one of the temple workers from the tribe of Levi, and a singer from the family of Asaph, David's music leader. Born in exile. My family has sung at the LORD's house since David's day, and when the new foundation went down, we were in our places again with the cymbals.

My family sang the same line when Solomon's temple opened.
Temple dedication. The priests had just brought the ark in and come out of the Holy Place, every one of them ready, whatever his division. Heman, Jeduthun, our sons, our relatives and me, all in fine linen, east of the altar with cymbals, harps and lyres. A hundred and twenty priests on trumpets. We had to sound like one voice. He is good. His love lasts for ever.
