Thirty-eight years. Then one sentence.

I’d been ill for thirty-eight years. I spent my days lying by the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem with a crowd of other sick people, and I never had anyone to help me into the water. Then a man I didn’t know asked me if I wanted to get well.

Pool of Bethesda. Thirty-eight years ill, lying there with all the others. A man asked if I wanted to get well. I said I've got nobody to help me into the water. He said: get up, pick up your mat and walk. So I did.

He found me at the temple. Told me to stop sinning, or something worse might happen to me. It was Jesus. I've told the leaders.
